Track A Gun gives everyone the opportunity to inform others of the presence of a gun nearby. Available on Android now and coming soon to iOS!

How To Use

The Track A Gun service gives everyone in an active shooter situation the opportunity to quickly report the presence of a gun nearby, alerting law enforcement and other app users in real-time, enabling a faster response. The app is as a centralized platform where law enforcement agencies and first responders can coordinate their efforts by gaining insight into the details of a shooting and act accordingly. The result is a faster, more efficient response and potentially reduced casualties.

One of the critical features of the Track A Gun app is its ability to provide real-time alerts and accurate incident details to other app users in affected areas, ensuring that they stay well-informed and equipped to respond appropriately to potential gun violence incidents. When the user reports the presence of a gun nearby through the app’s reporting feature, the system identifies the incident location. The app uses geolocation data to identify users in the nearby vicinity of the reported incident. This allows people to be able to take the necessary precautions to stay safe.

The app is quite simple to use. The user creates an account by registering on the main page.

Once the account is created, all users can navigate to the main dashboard. A settings feature gives access to user profile settings, notification preferences, and other app-related options. The alert button is prominently displayed right in the middle of the screen. It's your direct line to say, "Hey! Something dangerous is `happening here!" Press the Alert button and immediately the authorities are notified and other app users receive a notification in real time.

When the alert button is clicked, you are prompted to answer a few quick questions to describe the situation. Once you have answered the questions, you will be directed to a forum where you can provide more details about the incident.

The forum is directly accessible for any other app user to see, respond, and protect themselves. In order to ensure the safest response to the incident, law enforcement agencies are given direct access to the forum to generate the best possible plan of action to apprehend the shooter.

The app will keep you in the loop with notifications – like someone tapping you on the shoulder and saying, "Hey, we're all in this together. Stay calm. It’s going to be okay.” After a user reports an incident through the forum, the app uses the incident’s location to provide the near exits for your current location. This location data is then used to calculate the most direct route to the nearest exits. As users move within the venue, the map updates in real time, ensuring that they stay informed of their position and their exit location relative to their movement. The app guides you safely outside of the danger, as law enforcement arrives and takes control of the situation.
